The Gallbladder
People with cystic fibrosis have a higher frequency of gallstones compared to people of similar age without CF. This may be due to abnormal mucin production or due to excessive loss of bile acids in the stool. People with gallstones can have abdominal pain, change in their liver function tests on bloodwork or may not have any symptoms at all. Talk to your CF team to learn more.
